God Saw the Light

Many of us have most likely sang (or at least heard of) the song "I saw the light" sung by Hank Williams Sr. (and a million other people). As I was reading Genesis chapter 1:4 the thought hit me,
God saw the light.
Let's put a pause in that statement; God … saw the light!
He looked at it intently.
Gazed upon it with pleasure
And saw that it "was good."
What jumped out to me was this; if the Lord has given us light, He looks at that light with interest.
What if, what He is looking at is the very thing He told us to be in the Old Testament? Be Holy for I am Holy, and Be Perfect for He is perfect.
We all know that we can't be Holy without Him or perfect without Him, Oh but when He puts His light in us, that is the Holiness and perfection that He sees.
"He is light."
What a precious thought for the believer to know that God's eye is tenderly observant of that work of grace which He has begun.
He never loses sight of the light.
Why is it we seem to always think of God being in Heaven waiting to strike us down the moment we do something wrong?
Is it possible we often think this way because most of the time we cannot see the light ourselves so we think "if I can't see the light, there must not be any light"?
But God always sees the light!
Well, guess what, that is much better than our seeing it.
Better for the judge to see that righteousness (that He freely gave) than for me to think I see it.
It sure is nice for "me" to know that I am one of God's people—but whether I know it or not, is one thing, but if the Lord knows it, I AM SAFE!
2nd Timothy 2:19a says this: Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,”
You may be struggling because of the darkness or sin that you see, But the Lord sees the "light" in your heart. Afterall, He put it there.
And all the ugliness, darkness, cloudiness of your soul cannot conceal the light from His gracious eye.
You may think that you have sunk low in despair, but if your soul has any longing towards Christ, and if you are seeking to rest in His finished work, God sees the "light."
He not only sees it, but He also CALLS IT GOOD.
