Luke 2:7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Some bible versions use the phrase “guest room” instead of inn. The original writing uses the word ‘katalyma’ which is translated as guest chamber. However, no matter if it was a guest room, an inn, a motel 6, or a 5 star hotel, there was no room for Joseph, Mary, and soon to be born, Jesus.

Jesus was ready to be here, but there just wasn’t any room for Him.

The setting is this:

  • People were everywhere.

    • Trying to get counted for the census that was mandated by the government.

  • Certainly most of those people had heard all of their lives about a promised messiah.

    • The culture of that day was reading daily the prophecies and torah to each other, the kids, family and friends.

    • But in this juncture, their schedule was so FULL of the busy-ness of life, that they missed the moment!

  • The promise was right in front of them.

    • The promised savior, Jesus, was ready to be born.

    • The moment they'd heard about their entire lives was finally here!

    • The Messiah was here!

    • The greatest thing to ever happen in all of history was happening...right then!

    • But their lives were so full of everything else, that there was no room for Jesus.

What is something you have been waiting for your whole life? Peace, fulfillment, purpose? Don't you know beloved, that the only place you are going to find those very things, is actually not a place, but a person?

Jesus is here for you today. Calling your name. (Revelation 3:20)

Let me ask you today, do you have any room in your life for Jesus, or are you going to miss the opportunity like they did on Christmas Eve?

Prayer: Father thank you for Your unwavering love for us. Thank You that You have provided everything that we could ever need in this life, and the next. Help me to always make room for you in my life. I choose to lay all 'the stuff" that has my life too full for You. Daddy, there will be room in my guest room for You. I love You. Amen
