Does God play hide and seek?

Hebrews 13:23 NLT Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Do we think sometimes God is like "I am the Great I AM", then plays "hide and seek" with all of these good things?

To me a homemade carrot cake is a good thing...A really good thing! One time, I had someone give me all of the ingredients; oil, eggs, flour, sugar, cream cheese, etc. But I could never get it right. It would stick to the pan, or it would be too dry, or it wouldn't rise correctly. I wasted so much money and time trying to get it right on my own. Finally, when I was tired of messing it up, I went back to the one who gave me the recipe and said you didn't give me the right ingredients. What is the secret? What are you "hiding" from me? After spending some time with them, I quickly learned there is more to it than just the ingredients. They went on to show me, it's not just the ingredients, but how you mix those ingredients. Adding what ingredient at what time. What consistency to get the mixture. What temperature. How long.

You see the Lord has given us all the ingredients in His word in His promises, but have we spent time with Him to understand just how to use those ingredients? If not, it will feel like we believe THAT He's Jesus, but not really believe IN Jesus!

  • Example, we believe "that" Hitler killed all those Jews and created the holocaust, but we certainly don't believe "in" what he was trying to accomplish.

Do we have a belief "That" Jesus is God's son, or do we believe "IN" Jesus God's son?

When we start to spend time with the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), the one who breathed life into us, the very creator of the universe; we then start to see Him and all the good stuff He has for us.

Turns out, He's not playing hide and seek at all. He's given us everything we need that pertains to this life of righteousness (good things) (2 Peter 1:3). He is just waiting for us to spend some time with Him, so we can learn how use those ingredients!

  • Hebrews 13:23 NLT Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

    • So what is His promise?

    • One of the many is when we spend time (Come near) to God he will spend time (come near) to us. James 4:8

Prayer: Daddy, thank you for your abounding grace that you give us. Thank you for Your new mercies daily in our life. Help us never to neglect our time with You, and to understand just how valuable our time with You truly is. Amen
